Tips That Will Give You Tons of Strawberries!

.If you remove the runners, at the base of the plant, you can produce MUCH more berries! When the runners are gone, the plant is able to receive more nutrients which will yield more.

.Choose a strawberry cultivar that is known to produce a large berry crop. Most people say that short-day varieties will give you the most strawberries.

.For more berries, you should make sure to replace your entire bed after 3-5 years. Once the strawberry plants are older than five years, they start to decrease in productivity. By replacing your beds the younger plants will be able to take over and produce lots of new strawberries.

.Use Mulch! As the mulch decomposes, it will feed your plants and also prevent grass and weeds from growing in with your strawberry plants. For best results, pile on 6-8 inches of mulch.

.As simple as it sounds, if you want tons of strawberries, you should pick the ripe berries often. If your berries become overripe, they will promote disease and insect problems, which will ruin your crop.
